Cookies & Local Storage
PDFRev uses browser storage to keep the editor working and help you resume your own work. The current editor does not include advertising cookies or third-party analytics scripts.
Effective date: 2026-09-14
Local drafts
When draft saving is available, IndexedDB stores the three most recent documents in this browser. A draft includes its original PDF, file name, editing choices, pending work, and up to ten saved versions. This is a local copy on your device, not a cloud document library.
Drafts remain until you delete them, a newer draft replaces them, or your browser clears or evicts the site’s data. Closing the tab or allowing the server session to expire does not remove them. Files opened using a PDF password are not automatically saved as drafts.
Session information
PDFRev uses an essential session cookie called __Host-pdfrev-session. It contains a signed random identifier to keep temporary documents associated with your browser. It expires after 24 hours and is marked Secure, HttpOnly, and SameSite=Strict. It is not an advertising identifier.
Accounts are currently paused. A previous essential cookie called __Host-pdfrev-account may remain in your browser until its expiry or until you clear site data. It contains a signed random account-session token, is Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict, and has a maximum lifetime of seven days. It does not grant account access during this release and is not used for advertising.
The editor uses session storage for a random tab identifier. It helps recognize repeated requests from the same editing tab and avoid duplicate processing. It is not used for advertising or for tracking you across other websites.
Session storage normally lasts for the tab session, although a browser may restore it when it restores tabs. Clearing PDFRev’s site data removes it.
Managing storage
Account controls are currently unavailable. Clear PDFRev site data to remove a previous account cookie, or contact us about an existing account. Clearing site data also removes browser drafts, so download work you want to keep first.
Open Local drafts in the editor and delete any draft you no longer need. Deleting the current draft also stops automatic saving for that file in the current editing session.
To remove all local PDFRev data, use your browser’s site-data controls for pdfrev.com. Download work you want to keep first.
On a shared device, remove local drafts when you finish. Private browsing may prevent drafts from surviving the browsing session; behavior depends on the browser.
Blocking browser storage may prevent draft recovery and some session features. It does not change the server’s temporary-processing retention rules.
Other cookies and future changes
The session cookie described above is necessary for temporary document access. Hosting or security services may also use necessary request handling under their own arrangements, described in our Privacy Policy.
If we introduce optional analytics, advertising, or other nonessential storage, we will update this page and request any consent required before activating it. There is currently no advertising or analytics preference to enable.
